MAC Cosmetics Review

Hello Darlings! So today I’m sharing my experience with you about shopping at MAC. Now I feel like everyone out there knows about MAC but as usual I will give you a little background info if you don’t. The following information is stuff cited from their website. MAC is one of the world’s leading makeup brands known for its makeup artistry. They originate from Toronto, Canada and celebrate diversity and individuality. MAC stands for Make-up Art Cosmetics.  “Makeup artist and photographer Frank Toskan and salon owner Frank Angelo became frustrated by the lack of makeup that photographed well, so they decided to create their own. At first, they made the cosmetics in their kitchen and sold them straight from the salon to fellow makeup artists, as well as models and photographers.” ” M·A·C chose instead to establish itself as the ultimate colour authority.

A lot of the info above was stuff I never knew about MAC. Honestly all I knew about MAC was that it was a very distinct popular makeup brand and they had this really popular lipstick called Ruby Woo. I had no clue why MAC was so distinct or why it was so popular; it seemed just like Sephora except only one brand.

I had visited a MAC store in India back in 2013 when I was on a hunt for halloween makeup. I had never been to a Sephora at this point in my life and literally only used Maybelline so the prices at MAC were extremely alarming to me despite knowing that they seemed to have products I wanted. So 6 years later in 2019 I decided to give MAC another shot when I went to Austin, TX this summer. They don’t have a MAC in the mall I regularly go to so this felt pretty new to me. This time when I went into MAC I went with the intent to actually buy something so I took my trip more seriously. I went on their website to look for something inexpensive to buy. That’s when I came across MAC’s mini lipsticks for $12 and I decided I wanted to buy the shade Ruby Woo. Ruby Woo is one of MAC’s most popular lipstick colors and it is known as the universal red lip. So I decided to give this guy a shot!

So I went to MAC and when I walked in it felt very sophisticated. The layout of the store and products were very crisp and sharp and it didn’t feel overwhelming like Sephora. (overwhelming like too much love to handle). MAC had a great vibe to it but it was also a vibe that I could control without going crazy like I do at Sephora. The store had a good collection of everything and it was all organized well and they had testers too. MAC does have a rewards program too just like Sephora but the rewards are mostly beneficial to those who shop there a lot.

Now here’s my review on MAC products based on my purchase of the mini Ruby Woo lipstick. There is no doubt that MAC has an excellent color selection. Also their lipsticks are very well curated. The color doesn’t bleed at all and it’s extremely matte so I can get that precision around my lips. And the color definitely looks amazing on camera!
