Makeup removal is probably the saddest part of the day. You have a perfect face of glam on, but it has to come off before you get breakouts! Today I’m sharing with you seven different ways to take off makeup. Please note that some methods are better than others but the idea here is to get everything off. I do highly recommend using two methods of removal to ensure it’s completely off. With all of our products designed to be waterproof and long-lasting it really is hard to get it all off. That’s why to ensure you’re doing it well double up on it.

Cleansing Wipes/Makeup Wipes

The lazy girl way to go. The fastest way to take it off. You can toss these in your purse or next to your bed to wipe it off before you go to bed. I personally avoid this method because I dislike the wastage of wipes plus if you’re wearing heavy products then this isn’t the most efficient way to take it off. And wipes often can be too tough on the skin since you’re rubbing it into your skin. However, it’s the most popular methods of makeup removal thanks to its simplicity. I would definitely follow up with a cleanser once you use this. This method is okay to use in emergencies when you don’t have time to take off your makeup.

Are Baby Wipes good to take off Makeup?

Please don’t use baby wipes! Baby wipes do not have the properties of cleansing wipes! You’re better off using soap and water if you don’t have anything available, but stay away from those baby wipes.

Cleansing Oil

I like to double cleanse which means cleansing with an oil based cleanser first and then a water based cleanser. To use a cleansing oil just wet your face and add a little water to the oil and apply to face. Then rinse off! You could also just use a coconut oil or olive oil from your kitchen but I don’t recommend these methods unless it’s an emergency. The real oils tend to be too oily and make your vision blurry when taking off eye makeup.

Cleansing Balm

My favorite method! This is very similar to the cleansing oil except it’s in a solid form. The balm is really great for removing eye makeup! It’s also really good to just massage into your skin so you really get everything off. Once you’ve massaged the product into your skin rinse off and voila!

Micellar Water

A lot of people love this method and I think it’s great but for some reason I have only used this method once! Mainly because I don’t like wasting cotton for this. Basically micellar water is used by applying it to a cotton pad/ball and wiping the makeup off. It’s very gentle and great for anyone with sensitive skin!

Reusable Makeup Cloths and Erasers

A reusable wipe that can be thrown into your laundry machine after use. This is just like a makeup wipe except you have to wet it to use it. This is great because it’s eco friendly and it saves so much money down the round. I don’t recommend this to remove eye makeup as you want to be very gentle. These are awesome to take along when I’m traveling and can’t carry liquid makeup removers on me.

Can you use Vaseline to take off makeup?

Not the best but it does work! I like to use Vaseline when I’m testing out different lip colors. I will just slather a bunch of Vaseline on and then take a tissue to wipe it off. It’s also great if you want to correct your eyeliner. Just dip a Q-Tip in Vaseline and voila problem solved. Do note that it will leave some shiny residue behind. You can go in with some powder over that to help with it or just dab a lot of tissue over it.

Cleansers with built in Makeup Removers

A lot of cleansers will claim that they take off makeup as well. At first I just used to use cleanser but now this is something I don’t really do. I feel that most people who don’t wear a lot of heavy makeup opt for this route.

How to take off Eye Makeup?

The eye area is very sensitive, and with all that eye makeup it needs extra care. I highly recommend taking off your eye makeup first and doing it separately. Just grab a liquid eye makeup remover to saturate in cotton and take it off.

Other methods I have heard about but never tried is cleansing milk and cold cream. I would definitely like to try those out in the future though. So those are all my methods! As you can see every method has its pros and cons. Also take into consideration of cost and skin-type, what works for me may not work for you. Please let me know what you think of these methods in the comments and feel free to share your favorite method!
